If you are wondering if you can learn to code around a busy schedule such as juggling a full-time job and attending children's school and sport activities, the answer is YES, you can! Lessons are divided into bite-size pieces. The instructor's micro-learning structure enables students to learn a little at a time and at their own pace. Having completed the SheCodes Basics program, I was initially apprehensive about whether I would be able to keep up with the curriculum as it involved a new programming language (Javascript). However, from day one, Matt's lessons were comprehensive, the community was supportive. I've been away from coding for a wee while, I needed to get up to speed again, quite quickly. SheCodes Basics is a good course for newbies or those like myself who want to jump right back in with both feet and rediscover the enjoyment of coding once again. Individual experiences will vary, of course, but I found Matt's explanations of HTML, CSS and JS + related content really easy to understand. I love the PowerPuff girls-esk branding and the positive, supportive vibes from the SheCodes Slack community and the library of provided tools and resources from Matt. Learning with SheCodes is one of the best things that has ever happened to me. Good introduction to basic HTML, CSS and Javascript. Videos and challenges are presented in a user friendly way however I think the support provided is lacking. Feedback on the homework is pre-defined responses with no personalisation. Whilst the Slack is good to seek help or to help other students, when the SheCode's staff get involved, they merely just fix the code for students without helping them understand what was wrong. I understand the principle of people trying to troubleshoot their own code and figure things out but for beginners, I think support to lay the foundations is very important. You could find all the information covered in this course online for free but if you're looking for the structure (which I was) it's a good starting point - albeit expensive for what it is.

React was by far the most difficult and confusing of the SheCodes learning experience - Matt made it as understandable and fun as possible. Though challenging, seeing my code come to life made it all worth it. And though this is my 4th certificate from SheCodes - the fact that I came from absolutely no coding experience to learning all the fundamentals of HTML, CSS, and JS and now creating a working website using a popular programming language blows my mind. And I did it all in my own time while working a strenuous finance job. Thank you Matt and all the TA's for all your support!

And at the end I did my site SEO friendly. It's cool! ✌ Matt is a very talented instructor and teacher! He can explain complicated topics in a very clear and simple way. And his perfectionism is a big plus! And it's very nice that the whole SheCodes team understands that women are always busy and gives them enough support, time and extensions to solve training challenges and create their projects.
