π Welcome to my charming little hometown located in the northernmost
part of Germany near the Baltic Sea. Population: 764. For most people
Breege probably is a meaningless little seaside resort. Because I
spent my childhood here, I have a deeper connection. For me it's the
beloved scent of the sea and baked apples in my Grammie's tiled stove. A
leisurely ferry ride to the car-free island nearby. And a relaxing walk
in the woods picking mushrooms. If you are looking for peace or
enjoyment of the little things in life, take a closer look.
π
Besides a great view the harbour offers a ferry connection to the island of Hiddensee. In summer it's nice to make a boat trip to Ralswiek, where you can visit an open air theatre about the famous pirate 'StΓΆrtebeker'.
The trees here are over 200 years old. There is also an enchanted little pond with frogs. A very nice atmosphere to unwind.
Almost every gastronomy here will offer you delicious fresh fish (or vegan alternatives π₯¦). Try the smoked eel - old fishermen's tradition and still a masterpiece of healthy regional cuisine.
ποΈ The natural beach here was and still is my favorite place. In summer for swimming and sunbathing. In winter for long walks inhaling the fresh ocean air or build a warming, crackling bonfire.
π€π The village of Breege was a Slavic settlement and was first mentioned in 1313. In earlier times it was a fishing base and an important seafaring place. The traditional fisherman's huts and captain's houses still characterize the townscape nowadays.
π΄π»π£ My dad still lives here and accomodates a small cabin with everything you need including a wooden sauna and a decent internet connection. π©βπ»
