Kyiv

Kyiv is the capital of Ukraine. It is one of the oldest European cities.
There is a legend that three brothers Kyi, Shchek, Khoryv and their sister Lybid founded this city in 482.

Three of the seven UNESCO Heritage Sites in Ukraine are located in Kyiv (Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, Church of the Saviour at Berestove and Saint Sophia Cathedral)

Many places in Kyiv are named after Taras Shevchenko: a university, a metro station, a park, an opera and ballet theater, a square, a boulevard, three streets and two alleys.

The most beautiful metro station in Kyiv is "Zoloti Vorota", it is also recognized as one of the 22 most beautiful metro stations in Europe.
The deepest is "Arsenalna", more than 105 meters (it is one of the deepest in the world).

Kyiv is considered one of the greenest cities in Europe - there are more than 70 parks and 200 squares.
In May, a lot of chestnuts bloom in Kyiv. That is why Kyiv is also unofficially called the "chestnut" capital.

The military aggression of the Russian Federation as part of the Russian invasion of Ukraine continued on the outskirts and in the city itself from February 24 to April 2, 2022.
It was accompanied by massive rocket, air and artillery shelling. Lasted 1 month, 1 week and 1 day, causing serious war crimes and crimes against humanity in the occupied territories during this period.
Now Russia continues to shell Ukraine and kill Ukrainians. Heavy battles are being fought for the liberation of our people and the liberation of the occupied territories.
