👻 One of the most haunted public houses in the City of York 👻
The Golden Fleece is an inn in York, complete with a ground floor and four bedrooms above. It dates back to
the 16th century - mentioned in the York City Archives as far back as 1503 - and is said to be home of some
guests that have never left...
This inn was featured on the TV series Most Haunted, and claims to be haunted by former landlady
Lady Alice Peckett, wife of prior owner John Peckett, as well as up to fourteen other ghostly figures.

Lady Alice Peckett is the wife of John Peckett, Mayor of York in 1701 and former landlord. Guests of the inn report
seeing a lady wandering up and down the stairs at night, or moving the furniture because she doesn't agree with where
it's placed.
The ghost of Geoff Monroe is often heard and seen. The former Canadian Airman fell to his death from one of the upper
windows of the hotel during WWII. Guests on the third floor report seeing Geoff's ghost wearing his full military
uniform, gazing down at him.
Often seen in the bar area, this ghost of a Victorian Boy is said to be friendly when he rarely does interact with
punters. He was sadly trampled to death by horses near the pub, and then died within the inn's walls. If you hear a soft
giggling, you know who it is...
