If a cat got on a tree, do not rush to call us immediately. Usually within 24 hours, 80% of cats that climbed a tree descend on their own. If you start getting a cat from a tree immediately, when it just climbed a tree and did not have time to calm down, its' behavior can be unpredictable: it can start climbing higher until it is at the top of the tree, or, conversely, jump down from a thin branch out of fear and get hurt.

If a cat has fallen from heights and is sitting on the facade of the house, call us immediately. Brick and concrete are not the best support for cat paws, it's not wood. Hypothermia and injury are very probable. If cat is stuck in the window in "ventilation mode”, and the owners are not at home, call us as soon as possible, and it is necessary to provide access to one of the apartments above the stuck cat, or to the roof of the house, to hang a rope on which the rescuer will work. If a cat has fallen into the ventilation, determine as accurately as possible what floor level it is sitting on. It is very likely that to save it we will have to break through the wall. It is also necessary to provide access to the roof and attic, to descent a video camera into the utilities system. If a cat fell into the basement of a building, find the keys to the basement and make sure that it did not jump back out of there. Close all vents leading into the basement tightly.

If a bat flew in to your place, then there are two options for action:

1. Open windows and curtains, turn off the lights. The bat will fly out within an hour.
2. If a bat has not yet flown out, on the contrary, turn on the lights, wait until the bat sits on some surface, cover it with a box or cloth on top and let it go free. It is advisable to carry a bat with gloves. By themselves, they do not attack people, but if it is carelessly taken with bare hands, it can bite.

If you are not planning to catch a bat, you do not need to turn on the lights, it can hide behind furniture and fly out only the next night. All types of bats in Ukraine are in the Red Book and killing them is prohibited by law. One bat eats about 2,000 mosquitoes per night. All bats living with us are insectivorous, they do not attack people, they do not drink blood. We understand that some people have a phobia - an unreasonable fear of bats. If you are one of these people and cannot overcome your fear to release a bat that has flown in to your house, the Animal Rescue Team can help (but only after handling calls where there is an immediate threat to the life of an animal).

The Animal Rescue Team may trap a cat and then hand it over to an applicant (for treatment, placement, return home) if one of the following conditions met:

• The cat is on the street, but approaches a person for food at a distance of no more than 2-3 meters.
• The cat is on the street, doesn't approach for food, but you can quietly approach it at a distance of 2-3 meters.
• A cat younger than 2.5 months (a kitten of this age can be overtaken or outwitted).
• The cat is in the basement (attic) of a building, in another isolated room (trapping is carried out by a group of three people, it takes time to prepare the group).

It is impossible to catch a cat with our forces if it does not come closer than three meters and it is impossible to approach it closer than three meters and it does not run away to the basement, from which there are keys available (or the permission to remove the lock).

1. A kitten that applicants want to adopt or find a home for (team will depart in the next 2-3 days if a kitten is not in danger);
2. Wounded or sick animal (the team will depart immediately, after the end of the processing of the current call, but no later than the end of the day);
3. Runaway domestic cat (the team will depart on the day of the application or the next day).
4. Scheduled capture for sterilization (we do not catch pregnant cats for sterilization, we do not conduct scheduled capture in the basement); the group will depart for such calls in free time from other calls).

• To catch a cat, you must have a reliable carrier (not a bag, not a picnic basket). To catch two cats, two carriers. Two cats in the same carrier are not allowed unless they are kittens under 3 months of age. You can use our carrier by prior arrangement and only for transporting the cat from the place of capture to the place of further stay.
• If capture is carried out on the street, and the cat approaches for food, one day before the capture, do not feed it and do not allow others to feed it as well. When the usual environment changes (namely: the appearance of a person with a net nearby), a not very hungry cat will prefer not to approach the food.
• It is strongly not recommended to catch a cat on your own if you do not have confidence in success. We will not be able to catch a cat that has already been attempted to be caught and intimidated. If such an attempt has taken place, it should be reported in advance. It is not advisable to carry out the next catching attempt in the next three days.
• If it is necessary to capture a group of animals, it should be remembered that under normal conditions, the probability of successive capture of the first cat from the group is 90%, the second - 50%, the third - 10%. Cats notice that their relatives are taken away and become more careful.
• Catching a group of kittens is more expedient, if possible, in the basement, for the reasons indicated in the previous paragraph.
• When catching one cat from a large group, you should have food supplies with you with the expectation of feeding all the cats in the group, because there is a possibility that the food will be eaten before the required animal approaches.
• It is recommended to establish the routes of the cat and the direction of its flight in case of danger in advance.

Trapping a cat in the basement

1. Find the keys to the basement in advance and take them for at least 5 hours.
2. Make sure that the cat needed for trapping actually climbed into the basement.
3. Before the rescuers arrive, securely close all ventilation ducts and other exits from the basement using improvised means.

Trapping cats on the street with food

1. The representative of the Team takes a position with a net 2-3 meters from the feeding place of the cats.
2. The applicant lays out the food in the indicated place (not under bushes, eaves or low-hanging branches).
3. The applicant calls the cats and moves away in the opposite direction from the one where the representative of the Team is standing.

Failure to follow any of these rules can lead to failure in capturing, but even with full adherence to all instructions, one cannot be 100% sure of success, because cats are unpredictable animals.
