The author of this book is Sarah Dessen. Sarah Dessen is an American novelist who lives in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Born in Illinois, Dessen graduated from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. Her first book, That Summer, was published in 1996. She has since published more than a dozen other novels and novellas.
Dreamland is about a girl named Caitlin. The books starts with her older sister, Cassandra, running away-which leaves Caitlin's family situation in chaos, and also leaves Caitlin to fill her "perfect" sister's place. She joins the cheerleading squad and starts to date a jock-the whole prep girl routine.
My love for Dream Land actually started back in grade school, I was in an administrative building for some attendance issues and I spotted the book on a shelf in the room I was waiting in. I started to read it and the woman there told me I could have it. I always loved books but something about this one drew me in especially. I was dealing with lots of problems in my home and often couldn't get sleep, a break, or a piece of mind. Having this book gave me a place to go when there wasn't one. There is probably a saying when you cling to something after something traumatic happens to you in life but I just call it a fancy coincidence. Ever since then I always think of this book, even when I spot it in places it still catches my eye.
