Sudha Murthy, born on August 19, 1950, in Shiggaon, Karnataka, India, graduated in Electrical Engineering from the B.V.B. College of Engineering & Technology, Hubli. She completed her M.E. in Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. She began her professional career as a Development Engineer at TELCO (now Tata Motors) and later joined the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) as a software engineer. Sudha Murthy became the first female engineer hired at TELCO. Sudha Murthy is the chairperson of the Infosys Foundation and has been involved in various philanthropic activities through the foundation, focusing on education, healthcare, rural development, and arts and culture. As an accomplished author, Sudha Murthy has written several books in English and Kannada, including novels, short stories, and children's books. Her writings often reflect her experiences, values, and insights into Indian society. She has received numerous awards and honors for her contributions to social work and literature, including the Padma Shri in 2006, one of India's highest civilian awards.
