A typical dish from Honduras ππ³
The Baleada name has a lot of myths. The most popular one comes from a lady that sold Baleadas on the streets and one day got involved in a shooting, getting hurt from a bullet, which is "bala" in Spanish. Once she got better en returned to her selling spot on the streets people started calling her the "baleada" meaning "the shot woman". π
Another myth comes from many years ago when the recipe was made from boiled beans wraped in the flour tortilla. Once you bite the tortilla the whole beans fall resembling bullets. With time the recipe changed the beans for refried, smashed beans, but the name stood.
