The biggest single attraction in Tampere is the Särkänniemi amusement park. Särkänniemi resort includes Särkänniemi Amusement Park, Aquarium, Planetarium, Doghill Fairytale Farm, Näsinneula Observation Tower, and Restaurant Näsinneula.
Tampere is wedged between two lakes, Lake Näsijärvi and Lake Pyhäjärvi,
with an 18 m (59 ft) difference in water level, and the rapids that
connect them, Tammerkoski, have been an important source of power
throughout history, most recently for generating electricity.
he Pyynikki observation tower is located on top of the world's largest
esker over 150 meters (500 feet) above sea level, offering a wonderful
view spanning over two lakes and the entire city of Tampere. The beautiful
Pyynikki esker surrounding the tower was selected as nationally valuable
landscape attraction in 1993. The famous cafeteria at the ground level has
been running as a family business for over 30 years. The popular doughnuts
(or 'munkki' in Finnish) made at the Pyynikki observation tower and the
Market Hall cafeterias are baked on the spot and always served fresh.
