High student completion rateΒ

SheCodes has an overall completion rate of 92%, higher than the industry average. πŸŽ“ Although our coding classes can be watched on your time, we still have challenges, weekly homework, and final projects to keep our students on track. Busy students are always able to ask for extensions.

This mixture of flexibility and commitment has been a successful combination for our students. Most students who begin their coding classes with us go on to graduate. Our alumni go on to do great things, read some of our success stories here!

With Codecademy, there are no deadlines or homework. This works for some students but causes others to lose motivation and never finish the course. Many find it helpful to have the course divided into weeks like we do at SheCodes and find the deadlines motivating.Β

Portfolio-Ready projects to wow recruiters

The best way to learn to code is actually coding! We have challenges after every mini-lesson with weekly homework and final projects. The homework is checked weekly by our tech support, who will let you know if any parts of the code need to change. Students share their completely customized final projects, which look great in any portfolio.

In courses like Codecademy, final projects are often recreating webpages, resulting in final projects that are all the same and won’t impress recruiters.

SheCodes prepares students for the real-world applications of coding. Many online platforms like Codecademy use an in-browser code editor. SheCodes teaches students how to install and use VS Code instead. This is what the pros use and what students will be expected to know when they get their first job in tech.Β

Online community with dedicated technical support

SheCodes stands out because we help our students every step of the way with our dedicated support team. Students can ask for both customer and technical support whenever they have a question. Our online community of fellow coders from the world are welcoming and make it easy to connect with others. You never feel like you’re coding alone when you learn to code with SheCodes. 🌎 πŸ‘©β€πŸ’»Β

Other platforms like Codecademy have forums instead, where conversations don’t happen in real-time. Your instructors aren’t accessible and tech support isn’t available to tell you why your code isn’t being accepted.Β

Here's what our students say

5/5 - Highly recommended

I have dabbled with Codecademy and some free coding resources before but still found them a little too theory based for my learning style. I really enjoyed the challenges, the structure of the workshop delivery and how Matt shows you how to utilize different tools to aid you in your work! Definitely re-sparked my interest and passions in the Coding and Web Development world and I can't wait to start the next workshop!

5/5 - Highly recommended

I enjoyed learning how to add extensions on VSCode. All the tricks Matt had were cool. I used Codecademy before and I did not feel like I learned how to combine HTML CSS and Javascript. Highly recommend!

5/5 - Highly recommended

I started off with Basics and now here I am in Plus preparing myself for React. I am so enthralled with coding and Matt gives such clear, concise instructions that it's hard not to feel like a professional programmer. Initially, I wanted to understand syntax a bit better. I was having a hard time with SQL + Python in my data science/analytics program and needed to step back to reevaluate my approach. Codecademy gave me a bit of insight as far as hands on, but there was no one there to explain it to me. So, I decided to give this a shot. I don't regret it at all. I absolutely love the workshops and highly recommend them.

5/5 - Highly recommended

I've spent around six months learning HTML, CSS and Javascript using various platforms such as CodeAcademy, LinkedIn Learning, Pluralsight and YouTube to name a few. After attending the SheCodes free coding class, the material I learned really stuck! After enrolling onto SheCodes pro I've really enjoyed the support from the SheCodes community and the learning style of effectively: (1) Shadowing Matt (2) Completing his challenge to test your learning (3) Doing homework to validate your learning even more (4) Completing a project that includes everything you've learned (5) Having your code reviewed at each stage Learning how to code this way goes beyond everything i've used before and I has made it challenging yet fun!
